This Is What Inspires Us

Another Breakfast & Learn is in the books and by all accounts, the B&L – as we affectionately call the event around here – was a great success.

In a random act of kindness in an unsolicited email, here’s what Don Brown Jr. from Walker Mfg. in Ft. Collins, CO had to say about Jack Burley’s Wednesday morning presentation, Advanced Cutter and Tool Holding Technology:

Good Morning Mr. Burley,

I was present at your company for the above event and just wanted to say that this was one of the best presentations I have seen in a long while. Your information was clear and concise. You were quite knowledgeable in your field. I enjoyed the way you rolled up the holder accuracy and the tool holder cost. I have not seen it presented in this way.

I enjoyed your passion for the work; it was refreshing as well.

Well Done!

Mr. Brown joined about 300 other metalworking enthusiasts over the course of three days last week. A steady diet of tooling knowledge presented by our experts paired nicely with a unique chef-driven hot breakfast each day, networking and demonstrations in the showroom.

Breakfast & Learn attendees enjoy a hot breakfast and get hands-on with BIG Kaiser products

Hearing directly from end users makes all the work that goes in to these events worth it. It inspires us every day to find new and better ways to bring you the very best tooling solutions in the world. Thank you for writing, Don! Hope to see you next year.

Weren’t able to join us last week? Don’t worry, we recorded all six presentations. Here’s a quick rundown of the presentations available now by request.

Presented by Cory Cetkovic, Applications Engineer & Product Manager – Sphinx
Theoretical and practical limitations, as well as documented performance comparisons, are examined for each interface to help qualify the decision making process. Manufacturing engineers, programmers and machine tool application engineers will all benefit on how to make the best choice for their next machine tool purchase.

Selecting the Right Tool Presetter for Your Needs
Presented by Doug Sumner, Product Manager – Tool Measuring Systems
This presentation will help you get what you need in a tool presetter instead of what the salesperson wants you to buy. Managers, supervisors, engineers and tool crib personnel will find this helpful in setup or expansion of tool measuring capabilities.

The training room was packed for the technical presentations by BIG Kaiser experts

Higher Productivity Milling – Advanced Cutter and Tool Holding Technology
Presented by Jack Burley, V.P., Sales & Engineering
As an industry leader in the production of many different types of tool holders, we outline the current advantages and disadvantages of each type of tool holder and offer suggestions for applying each technology for optimum output and quality. This is geared at manufacturing engineers and programmers who want to know how to justify high performance tooling to increase productivity and reduce cycle time.

Applications for Twin Cutter Boring
Presented by Matt Tegelman, Applications Manager & Product Manager – KAISER
Twin cutters are too often considered as semi-finishing tools only for the production of precision bores. In reality, these tools are designed for high metal-removal rates to greatly reduce cycle time for high volume production. Viewers will see application examples of stock removal for twin- and stepped-cutting configurations, as well as speeds and feeds to apply to their own existing applications.

5-Axis Workholding
Presented by John Zaya, Applications Engineer & Product Manager – Workholding
We define the work zones of 5-axis machining, inherent associated tooling problems and methodology for designing the most versatile quick-change solution for the machine. Programmers, fixture designers and manufacturing engineers with limited exposure to 5-axis machining will find helpful tips and understanding of workholding systems available to maximize and simplify machine setup.

Micro Tools and Tool Holders
Presented by Cory Cetkovic, Applications Engineer & Product Manager – Sphinx
The availability of smaller, more accurate micro tools and tool holders opens the door to many previous impractical applications. Viewers will gain an improved understanding of how modern technology and techniques can be used to increase productivity and ROI in common micro manufacturing applications.
