Spot & Chamfer Drills

Implementing spot & chamfer drills can improve hole location and tool life of a succeeding drill. Spot drill geometries are short to optimize rigidity and accuracy with a point angle larger than succeeding drills to guide them towards the hole's centerline. Parts often have rough, angled, or curved surfaces leading to poor, inconsistent tool life without using a spot drill. A spot drill creates a consistent surface for the more delicate and expensive deep hole drill to enter the part.

Features & Benefits
  • Four-facet point grind
  • Standard coatings available to optimize tool life in materials with low machinability such as hardened steel
